  1. Hi,

I've got a Sont IP7 camcorder, it uses the micro mv tape format.
I wish to convert my tapes to a CD-R so that I can watch them on my dvd player without any quality loss.

When I export the video clips to my pc (using the provided MovieShaker software) it is stored as a mmv file.
I am told this is a MPEG2 file but a different type of MPEG2 is needed to create a SVCD.
    Unfortunately I only have a CD-rewriter not a DVD-writer.
I have used a piece of freeware called mmv2mpg.exe which is supposed to convert the files to the correct type of mpeg2, but when I create the SVCD it plays back on my DVD player, but there is no picture and no sound - just a blank screen.

I have used different burning software, Nero, VCDeasy, etc and I have created VCD's in the past.
My DVD player is the nextbase DMV4 - which should not be the problem.

Can anyone help me, someone out there must have micro mv tapes they wish to put onto CD and hopefully they've succeeded !

You can always try opening the file in DVD2AVI, and saving it as an AVI (you can convert AVI to anything), or frameserving it to an MPEG2 encoder (like TMPGenc, or CCE). You can find all of these in the TOOLS section to your left.
