Now I'm not new to all this, but certain files I download, like say "Old School" I'll be watching it and all of a sudden the picture will freeze but the audio will continue. If I move the movie along, the picture will go back to normal. It always happens at the same point. Now, my theory is that the file is corrupted in some way. Does anyone have experience with this problem? Thanks.

There's nothing wrong with your theory. To remove bad frames, use VirtualDub. There are some guides on this here at this site.
