  1. I am trying to extract a .wav file from an XVID .avi and cannot get the audio extracted. I am converting from 48000 to 44000, high quality, full processing mode but when I go to extract the file the window shuts down and returns me to the main screen.

Here is the audio info from GSpot:

    0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3

    Is this a codec problem???

    Are you using Vdub-MP3?

No problem, that's what you should be using. Did you scan for bad frames? If not, here's how: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=142555

The weird thing is that I have done this many times before and lately I am
getting the same result for all .avi files. I can perform the extraction using regular VD with no problem. I am going to reinstall the software and see if that takes care of the problem. Something has gone wrong here all of a sudden. Any other ideas would greatly be appreciated.

Try extracting with something else. I use Goldwave for MP3 or AC3 sound extraction. I think Besweet works too but I've never used it.
