Hello! I am trying to get the files on an audio CD to play on my hard drive without the CD inserted into the CD-ROM drive. The audio CD was burned by me using MP3s I downloaded. I inserted the CD, and then went to cut the .CDA file I wanted and then pasted in my folder on my hard drive. I went to properties, unchecked "Read-only" and checked "Archive". Then changed the extension from .CDA to .MP3. But it won't work in my Winamp player or any other players! I think I have tried it a few years ago and it worked! Please help!

What is a red book audio file? Then how can I take the .CDA files and listen to them on my hard drive without the audio CD?

  4. You need an MP3 extractor/ripper program to extract the actual audio file off the CD. Programs like MusicMatch, RealOne, CDDex can all do it. To find an MP3 ripper just do a search of www.download.com

  5. I tried that once and all I got was a 44kb icon.
I recommend CDex(ripper, encoder, player and recorder and it's FREE):

You have to get a program to copy the music CD into Mp3 in the hard drive.

Try Musicmatch, it is free, check out: http://www.musicmatch.com/home/

Just download a file of Musicmatch "basic jukebox", when this is done install it.
