I have read most of the guides and suggestions in regards to backing up DVD`s, I have come across a problem not yet covered.
I use DVD Decrypter to copy the original files onto my hard drive then use the trial version of instant copy to rip the files down and burn to a blank -disc.
All of this goes without a hitch, but when i play the copied disc back on either a standalone or computer based DVD player the picture is erratic it jumps, blocks in places and freezes then continues. The problems seem to be on the disc because if you replay the disc in the same place it reproduces the same errors. Again its not all the way through the copy just in places and mainly towards the end of the disc.
I have tried using the registry hack and reduced the quality of everything but the main film with the same result.
Any ideas, thanks

Bad media. Look very closely at the media near the outer edges and I bet there are bubbles or voids on the DVD. I had a whole stack of DVD+R disc that all had a similar problem so I just used them for burning files under 3.9GB to avoid the bad area of the disc.

That may make some sense.
In the past i have used the old method of spruce, tmpeg and alike, this would make a ilm file size of approx 2.5 to 3 Gig in size and on playback there would be no issues.
I will try re sizeing the project.
In the mean time do you have any sugestions as to what type and brand of media i should be usingRegards

I have had to redo over 50 disks due to a combination of disk failure and improper setup on my computor.
The closer you get to the edge the more data that the laser has to burn and quicker due to simple physics.
Having your burn drive set up to PIO Only instead of DMA makes a difference. Pioneer, in there manual, says if you have writing problems to change from DMA to PIO. This actually solved 99% of my disc failures.
I have been using USDM over at http://www.cdrom2go.com/ with great success.
