  1. okay so i used TMPGEnc Plus and went thru the steps-mpeg tools
    multiplex
    select mpeg 2 file
    added
changed it to non standard mpeg-1
output-desktop and selected run and then burned it using nero.worked great on my pc using windvd-now shows it being vcd 2.0 instead of svcd.i took it home and tried it on my Toshiba combo and heared the sound but
    no picture.is there something i missed or should i choose mpeg-1 video-cd
in TMPGEnc Plus and try that instead.

  2. hehe..yea i had the same problem too man..That header trick "works", but it "dont work" if u know what i mean..

See problem is some DVDs have an MPG2 Decoder but still cant play SVCDs for some reason (unbeknownst to me)..The header trick for those DVDs will work, but ones that dont even have a MPG2 Decoder, well, YOUR SCREWED man lol..

It will play the stream as it recognizes the header change to VCD, but u aint gonna get no output, cuz it cant be decoded..(Same problem for people who want to play SVCDs on Playstation2..Aint happening cuz PSX2 cant decode an MPG2 stream)

Best go buy urself a DVD that can play SVCD man, cuz if that trick dont work, aint no way ur playin SVCDs

Sux i know man lol..I wanted to play SVCD too, as they r closer to DVD quality, but hey, look at the bright side man..VCD takes less time to encode as the file is smaller, and actually, they really DONT look so bad anyways, when u tweak the settings right.. : )

To be correct, there's no DVD player without a MPEG2 decoder, as DVD movies are encoded to MPEG2. They would in other words be pretty useless without one... 8)
It may be the resolution - try half D1 res, (360*480/576 (NTSC/PAL)) that's more DVD-ish and maybe better accepted by your DVD player.
