  1. Hi
I have encoded an Xvid file to a mpeg with Mainconcept and now I have and 776 Mb mpeg file.
When I try to burn it like a VCD (non compliant) Nero makes an image file of more than 825 Mb so I can't burn it into a 80'' Cd
    What's happened?
I think It should fit if less than 795 Mb
MPEG file properties : 44.100 Mhz 96Kbs/s stereo 16 bits
    Video 25 fps CBR 1000 size 352 x 288 pixels

    Any suggestion?

I have just encoded swordfish on 2cds fist 47min was 806mb next 47 min
    was 800mb .(with mainconcept)
using vcdeasy to convert to an image file the size increased to 816mb and 810mb respectivly
both these burnt (using overburn) no problem so you could maybe try the same method

Could it be that it's not multiplexed as VCD Non Compliant? In that case the stream has to be padded, which could explain the bigger than expected bin. Try VCDEasy/VCDImager to create the bin from the mpeg, and see if it says that it will pad the stream.

  4. Yes. I tried it with VCDEasy and the .bin file is 825 Mb too.
I think I have read about this problem anywhere and someone said about the difference between VCD and MPEG1 in the settings of Mainconcept.
    Could it be about it?

I think you have selected vcd in mainconcept as the res is 352*288, if you had selected mpeg1 it would be 480*576.
when you use vcdeasy maybe you have vcd1.1 ticked and not vcd2.
    maybe wrong just an idea

Also, if you just select mpeg1, it wont be muxed as VCS mpeg, and hence padded. Didn't VCDEasy say something about padding the stream?

  7. Use TMPGENC TOOLS:

    1) Select Merge & Cut Tab...
    2) Select type mpeg to be VCD compliant...
    3) Add your mpeg
    3) Choose an Output File name, and hit start.

File will be de-multiplexed, then re-multiplexed.

This will apply the VCD Header trick to the file.

Use VCDEasy to author and burn.

  8. Ok
    There are two solutions:

1.-Using the VCD template of Mainconcept (but the problem is that you can't change the settings. I.E. I wanna change the bitrate to fit in 1 80''CD)
2.-Using the MPEG1 template but you have to change the sector size to 2324 (as VCD )
I didn't try it in TMPGenc but I'll do it.
