Will xvid play on the PS2 using the PS2 REALITY PLAYER or is it just divx?

Hi,
I'm afraid i cant help you on this one, i was actually wondering if you could help me with something. I distribute alot of divx vids to various people (all my own content, honest), and give them a cdr with the required divx codec, to play on their pc.
A program that lets people play divx on their ps2 would be great, so i was wondering where you get this program from, and also if it requires a mod chip for the ps2?

In the mean time, i'll do some searching and see if i can help you with your problem (don't hold your breath, but i'll try).

All the website is in some foreign language [insert ignorance here ], but the download is on there somewhere.

I haven't actually got round to trying it on my PS2 as yet.. will do this week and will let you know the results.

Some "foreign language" like spanish!i live in the uk,i don't speak spanish,but i think the download link you are looking for is here.

from the readme:

Supported formats
Video MPEG4-ISO (like xvid)
Audio MP3, OGG, PCM

Audio and video should be in AVI format.

from the readme it would appear you need a mod-chip, but having never tried it i dont know.

Does anyone have a guide on using this?

I tried it the other day and it seemed a lot more complicated that I originally expected.. and all the docs are either in Spanish or (very) broken English.

It seemed to be saying that I needed to burn the film and the Reality Player app onto the same disk.. is that right?

Noones got a newbie guide have they?

you do need a modchip to use it...or maybe you can use a gameshark and do the knife swap ,but i'm not sure if you can swap....

i have a modded ps2. but i think in order to play divx on ur ps2 u need a software called Q-cast Tuner. and yup..it will play xvid too . u load the sotware from the cd to ur memory card. after that i think u install ur divx movie cd and it reads the codec which is stored on ur memory card. u can check out the site here
