i have 2 questions. first is what is the best codec to use for capturing to an AVI file? i am useing ati's mmc7 and capturing AVI and i am useing mpeg4 v2 in the custom settings. i have found this one to have the best quality so far but is their a better one. this one has some blockiness in it and i'd like to eliminate it. second question is, in the custom settings for capturing an AVI there is no selection for capturing at 352x240. is there a way to change it so i can? thanks......

Go here have a read : http://www.vcdhelp.com/capture.htm
AVI = uncompressed - VERY BIG files - 352*240@29 fps gives about 4 minutes 45 seconds to a 2 Gb file
Depending on capture card/ computer and personal quality needs : MJPEG is a good CODEC.
I use Virtualdub to capture [ http://www.virtualdub.org/ ] and my card let's me customize size.
If capture card allows :
1. capture AVI @ 352*240
2. use TMPEGEnc to encode your VCD - i use the 2 pass VBR feature and it give OK results when viewed on a TV.
