  1. Few questions
    1 how do i know if a dvd film has more or less than 4.38 gig
    2 how do i know if the film is copy protected

    1) Start DVDDecrypter, Mode ISO, Read
    Point then program to your dvd reader.
    Number of Layers: 1 or 2
    If it's 1 then you can do 1:1 backup

    2) All movies are proteted with CSS. When ripping movie to HDD
    with DVDDecrypter this protection is automatically removed and
    it's made region free.

    "DeCSS" is the code that allows you to unlock and remove the CSS (Content Scrambling System) from your disc.

    Any ripping tool implements DeCSS, otherwise you'd have a big, unplayable piece of data on your harddrive instead of an .iso or your .vobs & .ifo files.

    DVD Decrypter is pretty sweet - the fact that you can take a dvd-5 and rip it to an .iso, then burn it directly from DVD Decrypter and have an exact copy is amazing to me.

    And it shows you much more information about the disc and data than, say, SmartRipper.

    Personally, I think it's right up there with Virtualdub on the list of "Amazing Freeware Programs".
