Hi. I have a bt878 based capture card ("Cybertainment") trying to capture fullscreen in virtualdub in win2000.

Every time I try to select anything over 340x288 it gives an "Unsupported Format" error.

I have tried numerous drivers including the tweaked ones by Ivan Uskov to no avail. Has anyone managed to capture fullscreen using a bt878 and Win2k or should I buy a new card? If so can anyone recommend a good one? I would need composite (and svideo would be nice but not essential) in, spending no more than £50 (about $80). I don't really want to use win98 for capturing because of the filesize limitations.

    Many Thanks!!!

How do you install the wrappers for XP Pro?

I use IuVCR and it works great, but it would be nice to keep it all in one program, ie..VD.

You don't have to as they are already there. You do however have to use a driver that properly supports vfw. Ivan's drivers are a little simpler than the btwincap drivers. I use the btwincap drivers but Iuvcr to capture sometimes and virtualdub to capture sometimes. Iuvcr can give me a framerate that tmpgenc and Mainconcept encode to 29.97 NTSC no problem but CCE 2.66 will bitch about. Virtualdub gives a rock solid framerate but a/v sync can drift (not always and not predictable) Virtualdub does consume more cpu for the same encoding setup thanks to the vfwtowdm wrapper.

many thanks for all your suggestions.

All wrapper reg entries are present, I don't have to change anything.

Maybe I need to try the btwincap drivers, I'll give those a shot

I've never got the btwincap drivers to work. Sometimes VD will bring up a small Black and white capture window, but won't capture.

Sounds like I'll just have to stick with IuVCR.

    Thanks!
