  1. Hi

I have several DivX movie's wich won't fit on a cd The audio stream is 48000Hz and compressed with MPEG Layer 3...

My quiestion is: Can i make this .avi file smaller without cutting the video by changing from 48000Hz to 44000Hz audio? And if so, how?

    Thanks in advance...

  2. Yes, reducing the audio quality will reduce the file size.
Easiest way is to load the avi into Virtual Dub, set video to 'direct stream copy' and audio to 'full proccesing mode'. Then chose audio compression and select mpeg layer 3, and chose what quality to use. This is a very quick process, so first try using a low quality, like 18kBit/s stereo, 11,025Hz. The quality will be noticable against the original, but will hugly reduce the file size.

    good luck
