  1. I have yet to make a DVD that will play on this. Every attempt has failed, all but one with the same results. Once I got a "the disk is dirty" error, every other time it sees the disk, illuminates the DVD light and then switches to the nest disk. I am using a Pioneer DVR-105 with the DVD-RW that was packaged with it and Memorex DVD-R's. I have tried a bunch of different software to write the disk. Many webpages say that the player is compatible with DVD-r's. Has anybody had any luck with this player and if so what software and media?

Well this link says that player will read DVD-R and DVD+R. You are putting all the DVD files in a "VIDEO_TS floder and then burning that folder? Also I assume you are closing or finalizing the DVD if not it will not work.

  3. Yes putting all in Video_TS and Audio_TS, I am finalizing. I have even burned direct from ulead movie workshop 1.3 thinking maybe I wasn't putting the right folders on. All dvd's except the one that gave the dirty disk error do play in my KLH HA7000. I have tried Nero (dvd video, dvd udf 1.02, etc, etc, etc) nothing seems to work.

  4. Looking at users comments on the player it seems it does have problems with DVD-R so take a look yourself.

  5. I had read those before, realize that not all are getting the dvd-r's to play, but if anybody is, than it is possible. That said, I was hoping that somebody who had accomplished it could share the secret.

  6. I seem to remember that if you record the DVD using "UDF" (I think that's right) it will play in most players. I believe this is an option with some burning programs like RecordNow Max.

  7. Tried it in Nero, but I just got the new version so I will try it again.

  8. Why don't you experiment using a DVD-RW disc? That way you don't waste any media trying to figure out the problem.

  9. Other than one attempt with a dvd-r (to rule out the -rw disk as the cause) all have been on a dvd-rw.

  10. Well you're one step ahead of me.

BTW if you're in the states BestBuy sells this cheap DVD player the Mintek model 1600 for around $50 that will play anything you throw at it including un-authored mpeg2, VCD, and SVCD. I bought three of them for family members so they could share my movies.

  11. Well, I would do that except my electronics collection seems to keep growing and my wife complains that everytime she gets used to how things work, I change it. S I am hoping to get them to work on the Sony. If not, I guess I just watch the shows I record in my bedroom on the LKH.

I understand completely. My solution was to get rid of the wife but I'm not suggesting you do the same.
