Situation:
Captured 100min to MJPEG via VirtualVCR, dynamic audio resampling enabled. Resultant .AVI file is perfectly in sync - VirtualDub reports the video is 29.970 fps and the audio is 48000Hz.
Encode audio to .mp2 in tooLame.
Encode the video to MPEG-2 (29.97fps) in TMPGEnc.
Remux in TMPGEnc.
A/V out of sync.
Any sort of insight would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have a sync problem with a DVD that I'm converting to SVCD.
One suggestion made to me, still yet to try, is to resample the audio to 44100Hz.
Then use this for the encoding.
If you try this please let me know how u go.
Thanks -
I am under the assumption that SVCD audio must be at 44100Hz - therefore, if you don't resample a 48kHz signal to a 44.1kHz signal before reencoding you may experience A/V sync issues.
However, I am intending to keep at 48kHz. -
Actually, I think that my problem can be attributed to some bad (read: dropped) frames in the source.
On that note, anyone know how to fix this short of splicing away at the (rather large) AVI file? -

I tried resampling the Mpeg Audio that was ripped from the VOB using DVD2AVI. I changed it from 48000 to 44100 but this didn't fix my sync problem.
If it means anything, the audio lags the video. After about 3 or 4 mins the audio lags by about a second. It starts of fine but gets gradually worse.
Maybe I'll just have to stick with playing the files on the PC and be done with it.
I dunno -
Scott - are you sure your SVCD has the same frame rate as your DVD? To me, this sounds like a NTSC/PAL frame rate problem.

Hi Mats, thanks for the input.
Other than choosing "demux all" in DVD2AVI (Decode to wav doesn't produce any audio file) I haven't done anything different to when I do a normal DVD movie. By Demuxing All I end up with an MPEG audio file instead of the wav which I get on DVD movies.
If you are familiar with my process, below, can you advise where I should make changes to see if it fixes the problem.
Perhaps others may pick up on your thoughts and have some input.
Thanks very much. -
I checked the log window in DVD2AVI and it said PAL in the Video Type section. I have also been selecting PAL SVCD in TMPGEnc.
I just don't know what else 2 try
