adding subs withs vubsub in virtual dub problem !!

hello all
i have some question about puting subs in avi's (perement)
i have virtual dub with vobsub. i have a movie that i like to put there
subs in english.
i downloaded the sub for vobsob (*.idx) and it's work fine but i have some
questions:

1. how can i make sub from other file like (srt, txt etc. ) to work with vobsub ? ?? vubsub only work with *.idx and i dont find alot of them ??

2. now that i have *.idx how can i edit them ?
how can change the size or the font ?? it will be very helpful.

and thats it i think.
can anybody help me ???/?
