  1. Here's my problem.
I'm under winME so i have this 4 GB limit on all of the file i work with.
In order to get the best quality I capture my HI8 movies in 2 separate files (my capture board can do that) a m2v file that is about 4 GB and a mp2 file (at 384 kbps).
Of course i can't mux those two files in one mpg but once authored i have 4x1GB + 1x0,35 GB vob file and i can watch them thru power DVD.
My problem is: I want to get back my original m2v and mp2 files from a DVD I made few weeks ago.
I can't merge all the vobs in one big vob before demuxing because it exeed 4 GB.
If I demux each vob and then I merge all m2v and mp2 files i don't get my original one: I have some noice (at each cut) on the mp2, also i'm not sure that my m2v file does have the correct time code, and i have also sometime desynch probs.
So i'm looking for a programm that would do exactly the reverse of ifoedit: feed it with 5 vobs and get a m2v + mp2 or ac3 file (if my original was ac3)

    thanks

  2. I just found reading this forum that smartripper or dvd decrypter would do the job.
This is funny because I use them all the time for riping purpose but forgot there was a stream processing part.
too bad they can't work on files stored on the harddrive

  3. Smartripper will work on files stored on your HD. Just run the program with out a DVD in your DVD-ROM, look in the upper right corner and there's an option to choose file source (or something like that).

So you can rip the DVD to you HD, or author a DVD on your HD and still have smartripper do it's thing on it

  4. if you are trying to do it from your hard drive just use TMPGEnc and go to mpeg tools then click on simple de-multiplex. in order to load your vob file you will need to select all files. but first if i was you i would merge all my vob files into on big one that way you will only have one m2v and ac3 files. when you are finished....

If you are going to be messing around with video production I would strongly urge you to set up one or more of your drives to NTFS file system. This will end the limits imposed as to file size and save time and effort when editing video. It is not that difficult to change from fat32 to NTFS.

Use DVD Decryptor to retrieve your .m2v out of your vobs and set the file size you want under tools, options.
