Unfortunately, I tried to upgrade from version 5 to 6. This software is not ready for prime time, and has more bugs than a ant hill! Among the problems: 1. Significantly slows done your system. 2. Incompatbility with Nero and other apps. 3. Hogs the Sys tray 4. Templates for CD labels are mis-sized. 5. When using the CD Label templates, images "freeze" on the screen. 6. Lousy user interface. 7. And more......
I know that many on this forum do not like version 5. I did since I have been using it for years. I spent about 4 hours restoring my system to the way it was before--that is back to version 5. One of the main things I was looking for was drag and drop support to DVD -RW through my Pioneer A104 drive. Version 6 had this, but so many other bugs, I could not use it. Anyone have any ideas for good software with drag and drop support through Explorer for DVD -RW![]()

You can try Nero, but that also seems to have compliance issues. Its one of the most stable burning software on the market.

Thanks for the reply. I use Nero to burn UDF/ISO Dvd's. Still looking for Explorer drag and drop support for DVD -RW

I used to be a Roxio fan in my early days before this site. But it like beating an egg with a broken hammer. Anyway I only use my old version now for some CD-R stuff - it is Nero for DVDs and some straightforward CDR burning.
There are several companies that make the explorer drag&drop type software for the DVD RWs but you must be careful as many compatibility issues can come up with other burning apps. And it seems some programs do not allow you to "suspend" to do something else - all or nothing.Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin' -
Thanks, Kitty.
It would be nice if Nero added the drag and drop suport. You have any specific suggestions or links to software? Anyone else out there?

I tested 6 out... piece of crap... might be good if you know nothing and want some wizard with little functionality to make stuff for you...
Otherwise there are many better piece of software out there for DVD creation. Never tried the Audio / DATA CD stuff b/c I use Nero and it works just fine.

Hey, at least it didn't *KILL* your machine! Check out this article from the Houston Chronicle's chief PC columnist:

Now, he is one unhappy Roxio customer! -
Ahead software (makers of Nero) have InCD - you can download it from their site, and if you purchased NERO, you already have a license to use it - I'm using it for DVD+RW and it seems to be working fine - haven't tried it on DVD-RW, but it's supposed to work on that as well.

I've been using the Nero 5.5.10.7 (haven't tried the newest one yet) but it has made compatible DVD-R and DVD+R disk which play in most players I've tried even PS2...

Hey Vidguy, Thanks much! I've been to ahead softwares site and never noticed this before. InCD that is. Well, looks like I will trash Easy CD creator
once and for all and use Nero and InCD. I do feel like I'm giving up a child though :embarassedlaugh:

I have used Roxio stuff like EZ Cd on and off and now I can report I am Roxio free and happy. This has never been effective software for me and it has always caused problems eventually. For general CD burning Nero is great. For DVD burning Prassi Primo gets my vote. (Plus DVD Decrypter and DVD2One)

Record now MAX has drag and drop. They call it DLA. drive letter access. I've used it quite a bit without any problems to +rw. It is suppose to support -RW too. but I have never tried it..

I have just Installed Ez-cd-dvd-creater 6 and had no problems what so ever. I love it. A lot better then 5. Before I installed it I did uninstall 5 first. I have nero, recordnow, mydvd,CloneCd,unlead video studio6,pinnacle studio 8, Instant copy, and video explosions deluxe. I have had no problems with any of my programs after installing roxio's program. I like the dvd builder for it and the label creater. I also use it to back up my files (like 30gigs of music) across multiple dvd's. Maybe I have a newer version the people who have trouble or it could be a conflict on certain computers. I have a self-built one. gigabyte mb, amd athlon 2.4, 512mb mem, winfast 128 agp 8x video card, soundblaster live, creative 52x cd, sony dru-a500ax dvd burner, plextor cd burner, and 120gb, 100gb hard drives.

Also with dvd builder, you can import .vob files to create a dvd. I used dvd decrypter to rip the vob in monsters inc then found the short movies, "for the birds" and "mikes car" and some from other dvd's then imported the .vob's into dvd builder then burnt the dvd. plays them like a charm without having to convert them to mpg or avi.
