The size is supposed to be
4.700.000.000 bytes =
4.700.000.000/1024 = 4589843.75 kB =
4.700.000.000/1024/1024 = 4482.27 MB =
4.700.000.000/1024/1024/1024 = 4.38 GB
Give and take a few and you come down to the fact that what you have heard is true. In contrary to CD-R(W)the manufacturers of blank DVD-discs has decided to follow the same path as the hard-disc industry and state the empty space in SI-units instead of "computer-units".

Keep your total files' size to 4.37 or less (e.g., DVD2ONE usually comes up with 4.36 GB) and you should have no problems with burns.
