  1. I have been playing around with digital video for a while now, and in paticualar, i have been converting 'computer only' video (divx, mpeg files etc) to vcd and svcd to play on DVD players.
My friends oftern turn up at my door with cdr's containing stuff they downloaded, and ask me to "make it work on my DVD player".
    Not useually a problem.
However, yesturday i was presented with a cdr containg a bunch of .ogm files. I have no idea what to do with them???
The guy who gave them to me has a kiss divx player (standalone), so any help on converting .ogm files to 'normal' divx avi's would be great.
Any other help or comments would be also be appreciated

    Cheers
    Steve

  2. OGM is a container format for files that use the OGG Vorbis audio format. The file you have may use xvid/ogg or divx/ogg most likely. Thats about all the info i kno about OGM, but someone else should be able to let you know how to find out for sure. But you might want to try opening it up in vdub and encoding to divx/mp3.

Did you try the tools on http://cyrius.bunkus.org/ to demux the ogm file to its individual components? You'll probably end up with a divx or xvid avi file that has no audio and an ogg vorbis audio file. Possibly some subtitle files too.

  4. I have the OGM Filters installed, but I seem to be running into weird problems, I opened teh file up in Virtual Dub Mod, and it shows the Video but no Audio can be heard, opened it up in BS PLayer, and played the file for maybe 3 seconds and then just closed, opened up the file in Windows Media Player Classic and it only played the Audio for 15 Secs, no Video. Now I am lost because I don't know what to do...? any sugesstions...

  6. Actually I'm not starting on that yet, BUT if you want to do that you really should convert it to SVCD, considering that SVCD's are able to have Multiple Audio tracks, and selectable subtitles, IF your DVD Player Supports these features, OGM to SVCD in my opinion would be a good idea, I actually have a different issue...

  8. I honestly can't tell you because I cannot even get my OGM to play right, the Subtitles are all smeared when I select them, and the picture is cut off from the left and the cut up part is playing in the end...maybe you should try searching around, I'm sure you will be able to find something....BUT I can tell you that you can try using VirtualDubMod, it can process OGM files, Mpeg2, etc... and you can Extract the Subtitles out of the .OGM file by

    Loading the OGM in VirtualDubMod*
    Goto "OGM" --> "Show input".
Here you'll see all audio and subtitle streams.
    Select one subtitle(.srt) & Click the "demux"-button
    Save this one.

And if you wanna change the format:
Load this file into Subrip and set the output format that you want.

The people at Doom didn't seem to care, I guess it was a stupid topic for them eh. If you have any questions I would be glad to help...
