  1. I'm trying to create a SVCD with selectable Subtitles.
For creation of the mpeg2 videostream I use winsubmux
an subrip for extraction of the subs.

When I burn the mpeg2 video with nero
i have selectable subs on my Stand alone (Grundig GDV130) ...

But when i create and burn the cd with vcdeasy there are'nt any subtitles.
vcdeasy detect them and says that they are there but after burning
    they are not displayed.

When I have a look with vcddebug on the cd there is still a private
stream in the mpeg file. It seems so that the subtitles are still there
    but not displayed.

Anyone other have the same problem? Or maybe a reason?
What is the difference off the image creation process between nero
    and vcdeasy?

Bad english? Im sorry about that.

Have you tried both CVD and SVCD subtitles? Many players that support SVCD subtitles have firmware bugs that make SVCD subs fail in some cases, while CVD-style subs work. Nero does something strange when it burns, so the SVCD subs end up working when they don't in VCDEasy.

  3. I have tried both (SVCD and CVD). And both are allright
when I burn the files with nero. With vcdeasy they are not
    displayed.

I also have tried to use vcdxrip to rip the cd build by nero and
rebuild it with vcdeasy (aka vcdxbuild). But no success.

Does anyone have tried the way that i have described to build
a SVCD in vcdeasy with selectable subtitles?

Another question is, if there is a more in depth documentation
of the vcdimager tools like vcdxbuild. I have only found the official
docs and they are not going in deep for the command line tools.

    Thanks Zaxxon64

I've done it several times with no problem, subrip to extract to BMPs and make a .sub file, edit .sub, winsubmux to add to SVCD file. What I found was that CVD subtitles didn't work when I authored with Nero, and SVCD subtitles didn't work when I authored with vcdimager. The SVCD subtitles would work in vcdimager if I disabled PBC, though.

What kind of "more in depth" are you looking for? The official documentation on the web site goes in to quite a bit of detail. If you want XML examples and so forth the guides at http://www.michaeltam.com/ are very good.

  5. I absolutly can confirm the problems with the subtitles.
With Vcdimager 7.12 it seems to be absolutly impossible to create a Mpeg2 with Subtitles, if PBC is On. (i burned a dozen of Disks..)
-I muxed the subtitles with Winsubmux and burned the SVCD with Nero and all worked fine
-I tried the Vcdimager-Demo-SVCD and all worked fine
-I deactivated PBC with VCdimager and also anything works,

    "Only"

-if PBC is activated in VCDimager (what i need because of the selectable chapters) there are no more Subtitles visible,
although there are the same messages from vcdimager that subtitles are detected.

Is there someone who knows about this bug?
Wich Authoring-Software works with Subtitles and PBC?
8The only Application i Know is I-Author, but these are CVD-Subtitles and no real SVCD-Subtitles)

I designed the subtitles with Substation alpha (ssa), an created the Bitmaps with MaestroSBT. Then i muxed 2 audio and 4 Subtitles with
    Winsubmux.

The problem seems to be with vcdimager. In an archive i have found a posting from someone who has found and corected this bug, but it seems that the author of vcdimager has ignored this. He also do not react to my personal postings in the vcdimager-forum. Maybe this in an unpleasant problem. I also have the feeling, that noone really works with selectable subtitles, so that the authors think that ther is nio need to react.

  6. Well, I had exactly the same problem. I have a Daewoo DVD T6300N player (it is a TYT Clone), and I upgraded the firmware with the Gruding 133S(Yahoo TYT Clones forum), because my DVD player don't support SVCD subtitles (the 133s firmware support it).
I am using DVD2SVCD to rip the DVD to SVCD (It use WinSUbMux to subtitles) and I am using VCDEasy V1.1.5 to make chapters. I used nero to burn the CD image.
When I used SVCD style subtitles, the subtitles don't work whith chapters, but if I used VCD style subtitles, the subtitles work fine with chapters and menus.
