Is there a program that would let me take the sound from MPEGs and convert it to a mp3?

If there isn't one program that will let me do that, does anyone know where i can find a guide to do so?

If you mean in 1 go, I don't know. Probably

But otherwise, take tmpenc, use it's tools, demux and save the sound as mp2 - then get something ilke dbpoweramp og goldwave (www.goldwave) load the file and save as something else, including mp3 if you have the plugins.

    yes and no.

you need to demux the mpeg first - this can be done in tmpgenc (free).
then use HeadAC3he (free as well) to convert the mp2 file to mp3, wav,
ac3 or whatever you like. It's a great audio converter. You can download both programs in the tools section here or from doom9.org.
