  1. Hello,

I am trying to convert a file in virtualdub. I scan the file for errors and then got to save it. I have tried saving it using the divx codec and also the xvid codec. However I persistently get the following error.

An integer division by zero occurred in module 'xvid'...
...while decompressing video frame 11262 with "XviD MPEG-4 Codec" [biCompression=44495658] (VideoSource.cpp:1480)...
    ...while running thread "Processing" (thread.cpp:90).

How do I get round this error. I do not know what codec the original file is in. Is there a way to find out ?. Please help as I REALLY want to be able to watch this film on my stand alone.

    Thanks for your time.

    Russell

Gspot - Do you have an avi that won't play or you want to know exactly what video and audio codecs it uses then use this amazing little tool. It identifies all avi codecs.

It's in the Tools section under "Other useful tools".

In Vdub under the File tab you can use File Information to get the codecs, frame rate etc. of your file.
Are you just trying to save the file after scanning for errors? If so then you should set both audio and video to Direct Stream Copy before saving. No conversion necessary and it's faster. There's always some loss in quality when converting.

  5. Right I have saved out the errors. Now I want to convert the file to divx.

I select full processing mode and the divx codec. Everything goes fine for the first couple of minutes. Then I get the following error message

Could not open debug resource file (veedubp4.vdi).

    Crash reason:integer divide by zero.

Any help on this would be greatly received.

    Thanks
