I purchased a new NEC ND1000A OEM for £138 at Novatech last week.

Software supplied was VOBInstant DVD/DVD.

Problem is :-

I can produce DVD's using Pinnacle Expression or VOB Instant video which play fine on my standalone player using DVD+RW (Packard bell).

However, when placing the disc in the PC and Right clicking the drive in My computer, and selecting properties, the disc is identified as CD rom non writable, with various used space reports depending on the time of day!

Also, sometimes the disc appears empty in the files window, whilst other times you can see the video_ts folder and its contents.

IF I try to format using instant write format, it fails "An error occurred while formatting the medium"

Despite all this, If I produce another DVD in express or Instant video, it gets on with it and produces working DVd's, overwriting the old material with the new material on the same disc.

My trial version of Dazzle's DVD complete also refuses to recognise the drive.

The writer did not come with a driver and windows has recognised as CDrom. I have searched the net for a driver (Including NEC) but failed, so I am not sure if this is required or even part of the problem.

As the writer consistantly writes good DVD's with some SW, I assume I have some kind of configuration problem rather than a drive fault.

Any ideas greatfully received,

Thanks
