Have made a few VCDs and SVCDs using SmartRipper and DVDx. Problem with latest one. In DVDx when Checking Standard I get the following message: VCD COMPLIANT: NO
PAL = 352x288 [Video 650-1150Kbits Audio 224Kbits] 25Hz
NTSC = 352x288 [Video 650-1150Kbits Audio 224Kbits] 25Hz 23.97.29.97Hz
Is the problem with the DVD or something else?

VCD standard does -not- support variable bit rate, so 650-1150 bit rate will give you an error.

Thank you. My guide to DVDx says not to change the Video Bit Rate, Audio Bit Rate or Resolution. Does this mean that I can't copy this DVD?

any DVD can be copied, and a lot of DVD players will play discs that do not conform to the standards. check your player in the compatibility list, or try your non standard disc. if it doesn't work, rip the DVD to your hard drive, open it up in TMPGenc, and load the VCD standard template. this will ensure you have a standard disc.
