Issues encoding ASF format

Ive downloaded a file from the net and i cant seem to skip into the movie when it is playing in windows media player (or any other player for that matter) and i cant seem to open it in Virtual Dub (it complains about Microsoft asking them to remove support for this file)

and it wont open in TMPEG. Ive used GSPOT V2.1 and it says the file is
"Stream TYPe and A/V Interleave:
video/x-ms-asf"

Can someone PLEASe offer some support.
