  1. playing around with tmpgenc I relized that setting this to high quality really slows down the time it takes to encode, so I was wondering if u can really notice a difference from the "normal" setting and the "high" ?

Not so much and if u have a good quality avi file allready u will not notice it at all but i have to say when put to highest quality on an avi file with lower quality it always comes out the best.
