  1. I own a cd-rw samsung sw-224
I am trying to install it on my computer. I used the interface cable of my cd player(creative) which have two hook ups on it(grey large wire) and used the 2nd one to plug into cd-rw. I plugged the power wires(white plastic hook up with 4 wires red, 2 black, yellow) and made sure that my little plastic bead is on MA (master). did not hook up audio because I only want to burn the vcd and svcd I make.
NOw I was told to go into BIOS and change the secondary master to AUTO which I did.

    BUT IT DOES NOT WORK
I got when I bought it only a pamphlet in korean( i bought it there on vacation) and a nero cd. before I installed that, i could see my creative cd player in the device manager tab. But not anymore. Is it because I used the same interface cord? because I only have 2 IDE one used for cd one for the mem. So how can i make it work...what am i doing wrong? I spent all day plugging it and unplugging it...I am getting tired and feel stupidd at this point. Step by step appreciated!
ALso when I go to my computer I dont see my d drive in there(although I never saw it...how can i make sure I see it there and once the cd-rw hook properly how can i add it him there?

A couple of questions to get this started:
    What OS are you using?
With the CD-RW installed have you ever seen the power light come on?
Does your Creative CD show up in the BIOS POST with the new RW-CD installed?
Are you using a different cable to connect your devices then when your Creative worked?

because I only have 2 IDE one used for cd one for the mem.
This doesn't make sense to me.
A single IDE motherboard connection "should" support two devices.
You should connect one to the HD and the other should have the two CD devices.
You may have to experiment with connecting one CD device on the same cable as the HD.
Make sure slave/master is set correct.

    Don't worry, this will work.

    hola99,
Have you figured this out yet? You indicate that you made sure that you set the device wrong, when you said you made sure to set the jumper to MA master. If the CDROM is still connected to the end of the IDE cable, it is already set to MA ( the end connector is MA, middle is SL, slave).
Reset the jumper on the new device to SL, if you're connecting to the center connector. Go to the BIOS, set all 4 devices to AUTO, escape to AutoDetectHDD, if available, some no longer have this option, as they've automated more things with each mobo refinement. If it detects devices, save and exit. Reboot. All 3 devices ( I'm assuming you only have 1 device on the primary IDE, your hard drive ), should show up on the POST screen, as well as My Computer, and be useable. Post again if it didn't work.
By the way, did you get a POST error, "Secondary Master HDD Error"? Your first clue.
This should take you 5 minutes.
