I am a new comer to the DV world. I am using a gigabyte GA-8IEXP mother board with built in Creative sound chip (CT5880) and fireware port. My question is, will the sound card on the motherboard affect the quality of sound in any circumstances. (I am planning to capture from Sony DV camcorder, in order to make a DVD)

As long as you capture from the Firewire port the sound card will *not* affect the quality of the capture.
However, you should realize that most DV cams default to 12 bit audio and DVD uses 16 bit. You should be able to switch to 16 bit audio (if you haven't already taped what you want to capture).
If its already 12 bit, its not a big deal. Most of the s/w available will "convert" the 12 bit to 16 bit by padding.
