  1. My computer never use to do this, but now when I press ALT+ENTER to run an MPG file in fullscreen, it clicks about and after about 30sec plays the video, but it is so slow. You can actually see each frame loading down the screen, its total shit. Whats wrong? My computer is not that slow!

All I can think of is the hardware acceleration, and that is set on full so that cant be the problem.

These are the codecs my computer says are installed:

    CINEPAK (TM)
    DIVX 5.0 CODEC
    INDEO (TM) R3.1
    INDEO (TM) R3.2
    INDEO VIDEO 5.04
    MSH261 [M261]
    MSH263 [M263]
    RLE
    VDONETVDOWAVE VIDEO CODEC
    VIDEO 1

So whats the problem? Its bloody MPG and it should play smoothly, but it dosent.

  2. MPG (=MPEG2 Files) run slow on my comp too... But, what player do you use? Try elecard MPEG2 player, it works fine for me (and i have an 800Mhz, 256Mb RAM => rather old)

  3. MPEG-2? Isnt that SVCD? The computer is having troubles with normal MPG files, which is worse.

  4. Maybe try a different player? I hardly ever use the new version of Windows Media Player, prefering the old, Windows95 version instead.

You could search around the 'net looking for a freeware program, preferrably one that isn't a system hog?

  5. Yea, tell us what player you are using. I suggest going to Elecard and downloading their free codec (not player, well if u want to) and using that. It's different from the standard one so maybe it'll fix ur problem. It does put watermark a logo in the corner, but only for MPEG2, MPEG1 should have no problems.

  6. Get the elecard player, don't EVER use windows media player as an MPEG2 player... it messed up a few things here...
