  1. Okay, so ya i don't have the 1000 version of dsp, I have the shady version. I have 1.5. Every fricking dvd I try to make, I go to Build and I get an error. I would like some good (*FREE*) documentation on this thing, if anyone has any.....Basically my problem is this. I rip .VOB's with ffmpeg, I do an encode, it doesn't synch, the audio is like 2 hours off by the end it's terrible. Now, then i tried DSP. I get out my .m2v with either bbdemux or moremissingtools. So I got a .m2v and a .ac3 audio. Now, here's my dilemma. I put em into DSP (yes it finally at least ACCEPTS my files, that's a start). Then I drag the .m2v to a new track and add the corresponding .ac3 audio. Then I go to the menu maker and choose a background picture I edited in Photoshop to have "at least one layer" like it says I have to have. I put that as the background picture, I make a button for my movie linked to the track, set the disc start-up option to "play track 1" or whatever and then hit build. It just stops with the same damn error everytime, which if i were at my home pc I could tell you but I am at work right now. Does anyone know how to use DSP and if so could you let me in on the tricks of the trade? I've used FCP, IDVD, IMOVIE etc, i wouldn't think DSP would be that hard for me to learn but i've maneuvered through all the menus to no avail. I don't want to have to but i may just buy a damn book on it

Make sure you have a startup action set, along with most of the popup menus in the inspector that are in bold. Try previewing your disk in DVDSP before you build the disk. Play around with the settings until you get one that can play in the preview.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

    What error is it displaying?

    Always preview before you build!

  4. Yea man, I would skip the menu for now, just put your .m2v track and audio and then set the startup action to goto that track, so it is just like a VHS tape, you put it in and it plays.

You can screw around with the menus after you know that you can build the disk and it works first.

If you get errors it is because the re-encoded files are crap, first try extracting just one chapter from a movie and building that in DVDSP see what happens.

When I used to get errors in the Build of DVD Studio Pro, it was *always* because I built the Menu wrong, and wasn't using it according to spec. For a long time I just skipped the Menu, because I didn't know what I was doing, and just stuck to what I knew would work.
