  1. I have a 2-disc(dvd-9) DVD which I want to make a movie only copy to 2 DVD-r.
The DVD has DTS sound and lots of bonus stuff which I don't want. So I think it can fit in 2 DVD-r without re-encoding.
Could anybody tell me how to do it? Thanks a lot.

Rip just the movie on to your harddrive with DVD Decrypter and then use ifoedit to create some new ifos for you.

Also you could put it through DVD2ONE rather than use ifoedit if you find it easyer, I have tryed this with ifoedit and I don't think it changes the bitrate on the video stream if it doesnt have to.

    Hope this helps

Do I need to modify the vob files from the second disc? Or just put them in the same directory as the first one and generate new ifo file. Thanks

If you are wanting to put 2 DVD9s onto 2 DVD5s then just treat each disk as if they were 2 different movies and do 1 at a time.

Although if you are wanting to put 2 DVD9s onto 1 DVD5 then you will have to use this guide here http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/joinclip.html#joindbl...

    Hope that helps.

The thing is that I don't want to re-encode it. I hope by ripping only the movie. it can fit into 2 DVDr.
to be more specific, the movie part on the the first DVD is more than one DVDr while the second is less than one DVDr.
I hope someone done this before can give a detailed guide for newbies.
    Thanks.

  6. Have you got DVD Decrypter and Ifoedit?
I'm pretty new to this, but this is what i've done to get round the same problem! cos I've hada couple of films where the main movie is greater than 4.7GB even AFTER removing unwanted audio streams!
After using DVDdecrypter in file mode to rip the VOB files to HDD (with NO stream processing) Use IFOedit to to strip streams (movie menu [i think] then select strip streams). If you know your movie would still be too big to fit on 1 disc, then you could probably keep audio streams such as DTS and the 2 channel stereo (amongst others) as you'l have enough space to keep them if burning to 2 DVD's.
After IFOedit has rebuilt your VOB files, and created new IFO's you can split your VOB's into two seperate folders
    i.e.
Leave the first 4 gig or so of data in the folder IFO edit has just rebuilt your VOBS in:
    VTS_01.IFO
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_0.VOB
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB

and Create a new folder and VIDEO_TS subfolder on your HDD: (remember, don't create the folder in the same folder your work above is in!)
and move the remaining VOB files into this new folder!

    VTS_01_4.VOB
    VTS_01_5.VOB
    VTS_01_6.VOB

Also, copy the .IFO files from the first folder into this new folder.

Run IFOedit again to strip streams (basically to re-index the VOB files in the new folder with the last bit of your movie in) - you're not actually going to strip streams so when IFOedit unchecks audio, remember to re-check them if your going to keep them!

I always then use IFOedit to create an image, as i've found i can burn this image to DVD with the least problems with any burning software!

    Hope this helps!

    Pete

    P.S.
If you rip a film and find it's under 5.5 Gig (or so) don't think you can put the first 4.7gb on a DVD then the last couple hundred megs on a CD-R cos it's not that straight forward- i tried it and you have to screw around with all sorts of stuff - - - MiniDVD and all that 8) !!!!!!!

Okay rip the movie with DVD Decrypter and then load it up into DVD2ONE, if DVD2ONE dosn't have to lower the bitrate it won't and it will give you the option to remove audio and subs.

    Best Regards.

  8. I think you guys are missing the point of the author...

He has 2 DVDs -- on the first DVD -- the movie only is over 4.3gigs but on the second DVD the movie is less than 4.3, and combine -- they don't go over 2 DVD-Rs...

So he pretty much wants to take off a little of the first movie and put it on the second movie so the first movie can be 4.3.

    That's what he wants -- I think...

I would rip both movies into the same folder... rename them in sequence... create ifos, and use something like DVDXCopy or DVDToolbox or IFOEdit like someone said above to break them apart....

Yes, this is exactly what I want.

I think I need to join the clip??? after puting them in the same folder.

next thing is to split it again. DVDXcopy won't handle ripped files. don't know DVDtoolbox but I will give it a try. I guess IFOEdit can do but it is a little messy. It confused me after reading all the guides on its site.

I wonder if there is a smart software which can do ripping(two disc), stripping stream and redistributing to two discs all together. Am I requiring too much

it also applies to DVD-10 (flipper). it's clearly a subject that a few of us are interested in

Use the method noted by BarryHL
    http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/joinclip.html#joindbl...

That is the easiest. I've used that method for a few discs, and I'm not the best at using these types of guides.

The main problem that I see with a lot of people ripping and copying discs is that they don't want to learn how to use the programs. They want Instantcopy or (a better version of) DVD2ONE. The best thing to do is to learn to use some of these apps (especially IfoEdit) and performing all of these tasks will be smooth.

The Internet and computers has created too many people who want instant gratification and/or results.

Sorry I understand the problem you have now, Try this:

    1) Rip both disk to you harddisk drive (just the move) using DVD Decrypter.

    2) Use the vobedit guide here to join them http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/joinclip.html#joindbl...

    3) Use DVD2ONE but when it asks you what size to use, change 4472 to about 9999 so that it doesnt transcode it.

    4) Then after thats finished use DVDXCOPY to split it to 2 DVDS.

    That should work no problem

    Best Regards.
