  1. Any ideas what I might try to view on my Sony DVP-C660 5-Disc CD/DVD Player a DivX AVI that I downloaded from WinMX and then burned to CD-R and to CD-RW ?

    Background:
    1) Downloaded DivX AVI from WinMX

    2) Downloaded DivX 4.01 and was able to view the AVI from my PC's hard drive on The Playa

    3) Burned DivX AVI from HD to Verbatim's DataLife Plus CD-R using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 3.5c (When finished, able to view movie from newly burned CD-R from DivX's The Playa on PC, but not on Sony CD/DVD Player.)

    4) Read user comments on DVD Player Compatability List here in VCDHelp that CD-R doesn't work too often on my Sony DVD player. Should use CD-RW instead.

    5) Burned to Office Depot 700MB/80 min. CD-RW using Adaptec's DirectCD 2.5. (Again, when finished, able to view movie from newly-burned CD-RW from DivX's The Playa on PC, but not on Sony CD/DVD player. Actually received an error message on the DVD player when trying to play the CD-RW saying "Cannot play this disc." Didn't get this message with CD-R. The DVD player simply just skipped right past the CD-R to next DVD as though that slot were empty.)

Do I need to try new CD-RW media? I picked up the Office Depot CD-RW's cheap.

Or is there something I should do conversion-wise before I burn my DivX AVI file to CD-RW to be able to view on a stand-alone DVD player?

    Thanks for help.

  2. This may sound stupid, but it doesn't seem you converted it. No vcd or dvd players can play avi directly, you must convert to vcd or svcd (1st and 2nd layer mpeg respectively) This site tells you how to do that so I don't need to tell you how.

Oh, don't use cheap media, I use Memorex Platinum and thats pretty good so...
