Aspect Ration on divx to vcd>>HELLPPPP!!

I am having trouble getting the correct aspect ratio when I convert my divx download to a vcd for play on my tv. I have already tried cropping the video with virtualdub and still no improvement,,,,maybe I didn't crop enough.

I would appreciate any help with this problem as I am at my wits end.

What are you doing to convert from divx to VCD ad what final aspect ratio do you want/need?

I am going into virtual dub,,,,,,,,opening the film file. I then go into filters,,,open up brightness, and then use the crop feature to shorten the bottom of the movie in order to properly fit it into my screen. I then save the settings, and then save as an avi. I don't mind if the movie takes up my whole screen, but all the images are taller and distroted.

What else can I do?????
