Your movie is probably 4:3 aspect. DVD2Avi always correctly detects the intended display aspect ratio in MPEG2 video streams.

Sometimes DVDs are incorrectly labeled "widescreen". My copy of Hair, for example, says its widescreen, but it's just a 4:3 image with the widescreen movie shown in a letterbox. When I pop this disc in and take a look at a VOB with DVD2Avi, its a 4:3 picture, not a 16:9 one.

For DVDs that are correctly labeled are have a true display aspect of 16:9, the package should say "enhanced for widescreen televisions" *and* "16:9."
