I have lot of family VHS movies I like to convert them to DVD _r
which is the practial way (VHS to DVD -R SP or LP which is more practical ?)
I tried one VHS with LP mode, it looked OK like the original. will SP recording witll make it better?
Thanks

I have transferred all my VHS - sVHS memories onto DVD-R using the DMR E20 with very good results ! Considering that VHS tapes have lot of artifacts that aggravate during compresion, I would stick to the SP which is an excellent compromise; generally, the quality o the DVD-R copy is slightly better than the orginal tape because of the time base corrector in the DMR E20
if these are precious memories, also use quality brand DVD-R like Maxell of Fuji
Personally I made the orginal copies on Maxell and Fuji, use these as "masters" and stored them in a dark box; from these masters I make computer copies on cheap DVD-R like Optodisc for playing on TV;
