to vobs with Ulead MF and burned to DVD+RW with Nero. When I played it on my DVD player, it still shows 352X480 instead of the full screen. Where did it go wrong? I thought I could view the burned DVD in full screen on TV. Is it my DVD player, or did I miss a step or two when turning the original 352X480 file to vobs.
Appreciate your help.

What do you mean by it plays at 352x480 instead of full screen? I assume you mean that there are black bars around some of the picture and/or the picture is enlaged/parts are off screen (I don't actually know what you're saying, sorry).
The first thing that comes to mind is if you set the DAR to 16:9 instead of 4:3. But 352x480 is a DVD legal resolution and if the DAR is set to 4:3 it should be 'full screen'. So could you give a better description of what '352x480' looks like -
Hi jeremymiller,
Can you try it in another DVD PLayer. I have done that several times and my Super Picky Panasonic DVD Players plays them all! Use DVD Workshop too.

When it played on my DVD player, the picture looks the same as on my PC, namely there are two large black bars on the left and right side of the picture. The picture looks sqaushed from sides.

What are you using to author? It could be that the ifo and vob files you created still think your file is 720x480 or 704x480 (if that's the other resolution) instead of 352x480. If you're not burning directly from your authoring program, open the files in IfoEdit and find the video you have as 352x480 (if it's one clip out of many) and make sure it's properties are 352x480 - you can change them is they are not by just double clicking it then selecting 352x480. Make sure to do this in all of the ifo files. I'm doing this all by memory as I don't have the program on my computer, so I hope I'm telling the truth here. Hope that helps,

Looks the same as on your PC. That could be it. What's your source? It sounds like you encoded those black bars as part of your MPEG. In which case of course they will be displayed on your TV.
What's your source and how did you resize to 352x480? -
Thank you for all the help, guys. I found the problem: when I encoded the captured avi file (352X480) in CCE2.5, I checked "DVD Compliant" and that resulted in the squashed picture. I then re-encoded the avi again with that unchecked, the resulting mpg2 plays just fine after I authored and burned it into DVD.
