  1. I don't have any problems with backing up MY dvds, but what I'm wondering is if most of you use cd labels on your back-ups? If so have you had any problems? Thanks in advance.

  2. i have labeled all my dvds i have copyied. i use media face labeling program. all have worked fine. people say don't use them because it can make the dvd skip. but that mostly due to people not centering the label. also they say they peel i have been doing it for about a year and no peeling. even if it did which i don't think will be anytime soon. i know they will peel eventually nad when that happens i will just make a new copy...

  3. This issue has been talked about many times before

But I don't get it why waste the ink as well as your time.

I mean after all when it's on your shelf you can't see the picture/label and when it's in your dvd player you can't see the picture/label.

That's the only two places I keep my dvds, vcds, and svcds .

    Sharpie pen works for me

    Just my two cents

  8. I put the labels on my dvds, you can get over 100 labels out of an ink cartridge. They look nice and I put all of my movies in 200 page books. So when I'm looking for a movie the labels help, maybe its just me.

  9. I only use labels on movies for my kids.

Some of them can't read, but they are able to use their DVD player, and it is so much better than them coming up to me all the time trying to figure out which DVD is which. I usually just take some art from the cover and then use it for the DVD label. They can then see which movie it is for themselves.

That said, for my backups just a pen is fine.

As far as experience goes? never had a problem with the labelled disks. Work just fine and labels haven't peeled yet.

Casio CW-50 for me. It's super sweet for making professionally looking basic labels on cds/dvds. I've heard that the sharpie pens can actually eat through the cd polymer over time.

  12. Do not recommend Lables on DVDR's.

If it is not on perfectly centered,
it may wobble during playback and start skipping.

The smaller center hub labels seems to OK, as they are so small
they do not have the weight to through the disc out of balance.

Ok this has been discussed her in the past and I have beend using labels on my dvd-r. The other night I decided to watch the christmas movie I made. After about 45 min of playing and nearing the end of the movie, it did start to skip and jump. Very frustrating when you put some much work into a project and it skips. However my question is this, because of everything I've read about the label and understanding that they may skip especially near the end of the movie, If it is the label causing the skip problem, why can I jump to the capture's at the end of the movie, from the menu, and they play fine? It would seem that if the label is the problem, it wouldn't matter if I've been playing it for 5min or 1hr and 5min. If the label is causing a skippeing problem, it should skip in the same place as it did while playing the whole movie. I am going to sit down and watch the whole thing again and see if it skips in the same spot. I use the neato labeling system so I know they are on straight. But this sistuation has made me think about not using the labels anymore.

  14. Yeah, I used to fully support labels, but after a had one skip on me, I now only MOSTLY support them. What they need to do is find a way to make the labels thinner, so the added weight becomes insignificant. My SVCDs don't have labels, and it's a royal pain in the arse to flip through 400 count binders trying to find a certain movie. It's much easier when you're looking at labels.

Well, I put labels on two DVD-Rs that I created for my kids. When I tried to play them in the car's DVD player, it would play for about 5-10 mins then it would start skipping. I had another movie that didn't have a label and it played fine in the car. So I can only assume that it is the label that is causing the problem!

For your information, the two movies with the labels plays fine in the home player. So, go figure!

I print out DVD covers but I don't see the point on printing out labels, a red pen is sufficient for me 8)

I would print onto CDs if I had a CD Printer that could printout graphics rather than just text. Does anyone know if this exists?
