I'm using Leadtek WinFast TV2000 XP Deluxe and i would like to capture from my vcr but i dunno how to connect my pc to my vcr in order to capture.
This is how my tuner card looks from the back

Leadtek has given me a s-video/composite input(counting third from left) to connect to my vcr but i cannot use this at all as it's a different plug for my sharp vcr. My sharp vcr has something like a tv cable plug.

Is there anyway i can capture from my vcr?? How do i go abt connecting?
Kindly help me. ^_^

If your vcr has coaxial video out (the cable plug type), couldn't you connect coaxial to coaxial to the connector label "TV"?
Most vcr's sold within the past 10 years should have RCA component video out, so connect RCA to RCA from the vcr video out to that s-video cable component in.
You probably need to specify the input source on the Winfast software also. -

The way I do it is using a scart adapter which has phono sockets.
Then run a lead to the composite/phono socket on the capture card.
With this scart adapter you can also run audio to your soundcard.
If you only have s-video in on your capture card. You can get an adapter to change that to composite/phono.
To the first two posts on this thread please update your profiles so we know what part of the world you are in.
This can make a big difference to advice on this subject.

Looking again at your picture.
It appears you have the s-video to phono/composite I mentioned.

Just a parallel question for Leadtek users:
Many others have talked about using the green/blue stereo 1/8" cable to jumper this card to their soundcard; Which way does the audio need to travel - from the line OUT on sound card to the audio IN on the Leadtek, or from the audio OUT to the line IN on the sound card?
Thanks

@ jukebox:
I have mine setup to go from the audio OUT on the Leadtek to the audio IN on my sound card......
@evolution:
I caputre with this card from my VCR by running an RCA out from my VCR to the the CVBS/RCA converter( 3rd on the right in your second picture) IN on my Leadtek. For audio I bought a 1/8" to RCA cable and run the RCA end OUT from my VCR to my audio IN on my sound card.
Everything caputures great this way for me....
Hope that helps.... -
@don2050:
why dont you send your audio from your vcr straight into your leadtek card? isnt it an extra step sending it through your soundcard before it then spits it back to the leadtek?
cheers

maybe....bur I was under the assumption that my SB Soundblaster Live had a better DSP(ADC/DAC) than the Leadtek....
maybe not though.....I will have to compare DSP's on the two.. -
ok this is to the guy that started this thred
look at the white lable on the top of the metal box on the card. If the little box next to NTSC has a dot in it SEND IT BACK you cant use that in the uk.
If the one next to pal UK is dotted it is ok.
If it is pal the circle sockets on the back should be smoth and not have a screw thred on it.
on the back of the VCR there should be a metal circle with a small pin in the center, its the one you would normally connect the tv to. Take a normal TV cable and connect it to the socket on the vcr (the round one) labled output to the one on the card labled input then using the software on the computer select the chanel that has the vcr on it (just pop a tape and hit play then start at the lowest chanel and move up untill you see what is on the tape, that is your vcr chanel, it can be BBC1/2, itv, or, C4, C5, or sky whatever you get.
ok im in the US but for a 13 year old i get around.
hope this helps probably wont but hey i tried.
Please post back i want to see if that helped
