    Do you mean the computer's name for networking?
    Or do you mean an actual ID for validation under XP, Microsoft' anti proliferation scheme?
    The first is under Networking, Identification or whatever XP calls it.
    The second I can't help with. I don't have XP. Sorry.

    I think mark845 is after Network Indentification for the name of the computer in a workgroup.

    If this is the case, just click "My Computer" and select properties on your Desktop.

    Another thing, he might be after the computer's IP address?
