I usually use VDub, but when I try to use it for the Xvid file I am currently struggling with I get the following error:
ACM failed to suggest audio decompression format
then
AVI Output WAV: The handle is invalid
So, I gave up using Vdub and used Gold Wave instead. No problems with Gold Wave, but when I convert using TMPGEnc the audio and video are out of sync.
Any suggestions?

Which audio encoder was TMPGEnc using? The internal one, or an external one?
Hello. -
I used to Gold Wave to create the WAV and then selected that as the audio source in TPMGEnc.

TMPGEnc has an audio encoder internal to itself. It also can use external encoders like TooLame, Lame, SSRC, etc. Have you tried any of them?
Hello. -
OK so I've tried TooLame as an external. No luck. Same audio sync problems. When I look at the file info in VDub , this is what I get:
AVI Information
Audio Stream
Sample Rate: 48000Hz
Channels: 5 (stereo)
Sample Precision: 0-bit
Compression: Unknown (tag 2000)
Pre Load Skew: 28000 Samples (0.05s)
I really don't know what much of that means, but hopefully that will help someone else tell me what is wrong. Do I need some sort of AC3 plug in for TMPGEnc?
