Hi All!
I am planning to use the following steps to create a DVD wi menu having several ripped parts of movies in vob format:
1) Ripped the parts and get the .vob files
2) Using DVD2AVI frame serve to TMPEGENC to change the resolution
3) Get the files to Ulead DVD Workshop to create the DVD Structure and the menus
4) Run DVD2ONE is the result is larges that DVD-R size
Is this OK?
Any faster way?

Here's how I would do it:
1)DVDx2.2(free in Tools)-choose your bitrate and resolution, rip and encode.
2)DVD Workshop -
Would it be possible to preserve subtitles using that method? I have a few Anime OVA mini-series on DVD where the manufacturer thought it'd be cute to put one (!) half-hour episode per disc, and it's kind of annoying having to get up and swap discs three or four times to watch the whole show...
Ripping the episodes in english with no subtitles would be easy enough, but I'm one of those who prefer the japanese-with-subtitles versions. (American voice actresses trying to emulate those high-pitched Japanese female voices while reading syntactically-suspect English just doesn't work for me.)

DVDx supports subtitles and it allows you to rip a certain portion using a timeline.
Speaking of bad dubbing anybody seen Woody Allen's"Whats up?Tiger Lily"
Funny movie.
