  1. I've created a VCD using Pinnacle Studio V7.0 and burned the MPEG file to a CD using the internal Windows XP Home edition CD writer program. When I try to play the VCD in my Toshiba SD 3750 DVD player I get a "disc error" even though most postings on that player seem to indicate it should work fine. The tech folks at both Toshiba and Pinnacle say it should work, but it doesn't and I'm stuck. I've tried both Memorex and Imation CD-R and CD-RW media. Any ideas?

Why not get a freeware burning program. or download a trial of nero. I have the same dvd player as you and any cd i have ever thrown at it works. Use nero to burn your VCD. look in the tools section for authoring software. Stop using windows crap.

  3. I also have a Toshiba (SD2800), and have been using Easy VCD and VCD Easy to do everything without any problems. The programs are super easy to use and are completely free. Only 3 coasters/100 attempts.

Does Windows author VCD's? I don't think it does, in which case all you have created is a data disk which contains an mpeg file. Most DVD players will not recognize it (although some will). As the others suggested, try another program to burn your file in VCD format. I use VCDeasy (freeware).

  6. Ditto here. After the AVI capture, always done the Virtualdub framserve to Tmpgenc, then burned with Nero to VCD & played without any hassles on Toshiba SD2500.
