I have HP200i and DRU500 burners.
HP burnt disks play in both of my players Toshiba 2800 and SONY 330
Disk burnt with DRU500 will only play in the SONY. I get error on the TOSHIBA
Is there something to change on the DRU500 or what
I use DVD Decrypter to make ISO image when I can and use it to burn
or use DVD Decrypter and INFOEDIT. I burn with RECORD NOW on both machines....The DRU500AX has the newer version of RECORD now
Any Ideas why the TOSHIBA doesnt like the DRU500AX Disks ?
Thanks in advance

I have had many stripping/editing problems using Ifoedit. The best way to be sure of compatibility is if an exact duplicate of a DVD (without stripping etc and the whole original is 4.37 or less) works with your player but then one that is stripped doesn't then there is an issue with the IFO files.
I have changed my methods and don't use Ifoedit anymore. I demux to mpv,ac3 and then re-author using DVDMaestro. This seems to produce the best compatibility so far.
Try it!!!

Thanks for the idea, but I dont think that is it. I do need to learn the dvd Mastro method though.
I use the same method - same medium - just different burners. ( the pcs aint the same though one compaq 1.7 and one dell 2.5
Isnt there something about mode 2 - HP tells you how to change but when I try to burn in mode 2 on the SONY I get a cant divide by some number so I aways burn in Mode 1 -
Are they the exact same movies from both burners? Or are you trying different movies?
If the movies are different then:
If the disk that you are trying was stripped or touched with Ifoedit. Then it's the IFO files. Ifoedit doesn't make 100% compatible IFO files. Sometimes it will work in the player and sometimes it won't, it depends on the movie. Even when Ifoedit recreates new IFO files, this doesn't always work correctly. I had this exact same problem and speak from experience.
Try the reauthoring method. This will make 100% compatible DVDs. (DVDMaestro [very easy] or Scenerist).
What have you got to loose besides a few hours and a blank DVDR.

Bizarre. In my first trials with my 500AX, the only thing my DVD-R / RW would play on was my Toshiba 2800 standalone. They wouldn't play on my Sony standalone or another cheap-o Sylvania standalone at all. I was using Nero, until I switched to RecordNow MAX, and now every disc I burn plays on every machine I have, including the 500AX and another IDE Toshiba DVD-ROM drive.
BTW, media I've used successfully with my drive thus far:
Sony 2x DVD-R
Sony 1x DVD-RW
Pioneer 2x DVD-RW
Ritech (DVD-ON) 4x DVD-R media
Media that dumped on me:
Memorex 2x DVD-R -
It is strange - BTW, I have not tried DVD-R or DVD-RW yet. I had many DVD+R because the first burner I bought was a HP200i.
Imagition, TDK, Memorex DVD+R all do the same thing.
Same movie burnt on different machines will both play in the SONY and but movies burnt on the SONY will not play on the TOSHIBA
I guess I will get some DVD-R and try them .
I like you never got anything to work in NERO, but just burn the VIDEO_TS as a data disc in RECORD NOW...easy as pie. KISS
I bought the SONY because I heard you had to make PS2 game backups on DVD-R. I dunno about that though, because every DVD+R movie I have backed up plays on the PS2 ( HP or SONY burnt ) My chip should be in this weekend so I guess I will see.
I unlike other have never had a problem with the DVD Decrypter - Info Edit method and of course the DVD Decrypter ISO then burnt works like a dream.
Havent had the time to try the re-encode for longer movies ( just do them as DivX.
I'd like to figure out the Toshiba / SONY deal, but I guess it aint gonna kill me -
I have the same things - Sony DRU500a and Toshiba SD2800 All DVD-R plays perfect? but first expirience with +R, +RW where bad. I'm using newest Nero. You can fix the problem only writing with Nero in UDF mode - create VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS and copy all files in Video_TS. For DVD-R you can use anythihg in Nero - Video or UDF mode.
