  1. Hi,
here I have some (S)VCDs. How can I find out if these are SVCDs or only VCDs? Is there a program? Or can I see it in the Windows Explorer?

THX and sorry for that noobie-question

play it in windows media player or windvd , check properties .. if it is mpeg1 it is vcd (or xvcd) and if it is mpeg2 it is svcd or xsvcd

I've tried to get info from my files and I've found that windows mediaplayer and the DVD player from Power DVD don't give accurate info.
The best program I've found is on the left under "tools"----down to the bottom under the other usefull tools section and download "AVICODEC"
I was playing around with capturing MPEG1 and MPEG2 with different bitrates and resolution and both Windows Media Player and PowerDVD wouldn't give me the right file info. Files that I knew were 480x480 were listed as 352x480, Mpeg1 files captured at 352x480 were listed as MPEG2 files.
AviCodec listed them all correctly. Apparently it also works with other file types as well.

  4. Look at it in windows explorer. IIRC, an SVCD has a folder called MPEG2 with AVSEQ001.mpg in it. VCD I'm not so sure about, but the file is called something .dat.
