I have been burning DVDs for a few months and I have consistently used the "Test, Record and Verify" option on RecordNowDX. Am I just wasting my time, or are the Test and Verify steps useful? (Just as reference, at 1x a full DVD can take up to 180 minutes using all steps...)
To date with over 25 DVDs burned, I have only encountered one error during the Verification step of the burning process. However, when I played the 'error' DVD in my set-top player, I couldn't spot the problem. The DVD played fine, as best I can tell. Is this a ticking time bomb, or are small errors practcally invisible during playback?

The only time I use the test is when I add a new cd-r/dvd-r drive or maybee if I do a full system re-install.
Check the first one, If that works ok, I'll skip it.
If I'm writing a data disk, I'll verify - If it's video, I'll watch it on my tv.
Either all the way through or just the end bit
But that's just me -
I agree with miketree; test the first burn with the new system/hardware and if it passes you should be good to go.
I also verify all discs but do it with a different program and on a different DVD rom drive so as not to put extra wear on the burner and use a third party compare program.
