Good morning from Yorkshire, England, txpharoah.
I whole-heartedly agree that thread titles such as 'how often do you watch porn' and 'I masturbate in front of my pets' (or words to that effect which, despite laughing at the title I felt should have perhaps been reserved for the darker recesses of this site) should not be displayed on the front page.
What bemuses me is why you would post a complaint about the content of the thread, and denounce the participants as morons, when you should have clearly offered feedback (in the feedback forum, not the problem posts thread) as to the fact that thread titles of this kind should not be displayed on the index page.
Would that not be a fair point?

I will conceede there is a lot of activity regarding 'backing up', this lame term does nothing for disguising the fact that yes, many people are popping down to [whatever your local viseo rental store is] and copying the latest release, but to suggest it's a safe assumption to assume the worst is a piss-poor attitude to take.
From both this site and doom9 and I would never have been able to produce the stunning dvd's of my newborn son I do now, nor would I be continuing my learning on how to get the best from these crappy consumer toys you refer to, ie. TMPGEnc, Virtualdub etc.

that's the nature of a forum - unless there's some way to block the Off Topic posts from appearing in the "Latest Posts" section, these are going to show up. And why not? We are part of the community, so if this is a topic that churns up a lot of debate, then it should show up.

That's actually not a semantic argument, it's a legal one. You can't Xerox something, you copy on a Xerox copier, and that's a point Xerox is keen to make. The concept is "dilution of trademark". You know that thing in your kitchen that keeps everything cold? "Refrigerator" used to be a trade name, like Xerox or IBM. Now it's a generic term, and hence unexploitable by it's former owners.

Tx, whether you mean to or not, you come off extremely rude and arrogant in a lot of your posts. I think you probably have a lot of good information to share with everyone here, but your delivery dilutes your message.
