why does my vcd look better on the cpu than it does on the dvd player (tv) ...is there anything I can do to minimize those little squares in the video.....

Yes & no...a VCD will always look better because the 98% of the time, a monitor supports nearly twice as much resolution than your typical TV does....so from that standpoint...NO, there is nothing you can do...but depends on what method you are encoding with...there are certain settigns that you can play with to improve the quality in areas you feel needed...so from that standpoint, then YES there is a little something you can do

You could make a custom burn that yields better quality, but that will sacrifice space (as in it will be much larger).
It probably looks better on your monitor because it's much smaller than your TV. Therefore things on your TV will be magnified. If you are wanting good quality videos, VCD is probably not for you.
