Well I must say that it would not be wise to make such a statement. In my local store DVD-R is alot cheaper than DVD+R (this includes brands such as Verbatim), but at the same time I do not doubt that DVD+R are cheaper in other stores. I believe if you visit all local stores and all online stores, I think that DVD-R will still be cheaper in most of them, though you may find that more expensive medias have reached about the same level. Still I think most people buy cheaper media, and then consider DVD-R as the cheapest media.

  3. With all of this comment on -R and +R... this cements the idea that a DVD burner that could burn both formats would be the way to go. How could you go wrong with something like that?

  7. Well I don't live in Canada. In New York, all the stores I've been to sell +R and -R at the same price.

Everywhere else in Canada, they sell + and - at the same price too. I'd like to hear G&T's explanation on this one.

  9. For one I really think that there is not enough functional difference between the two formats.
In fact I am glad that there are two fighting for a standard. It drives down the price of both. Realistically they are about the same price now. I work at an OfficeMax and one week one is on sale and the other week the other is on sale for the same price. My only problem is people just buy the ones that are on sale not smart enough to figure out that the +r's wont work with thier -r drive.
In todays cuture though the rate of technological advacment is moveing faster than anyones ability to agree on a standard for anything. So my opinion is get the one that works best for you. And let everyone else do the same.

  10. One more thing. we should all go back to when CDRW drive where 400$ and the media was about what it is now. DVD -R and +R will do the same thing. Stores are already starting to carry spindles and soon enough you will see 100packs at stores for 20$. Just like CDR's
