Hi,
I've heard about 99 minute CD-R disks, and I'm wondering if there is a disadvantage about buying them for burning XVCD's to, such as compatibility issues.

First check to see if your writer supports overburning(look in "CD Writers").I've been lucky as all my players(DVD & CD)can play 90 and 99min CD-R's,but some people report their players recognize only 90min.
If you live in the US I recommend buying a tester pack of 5(90) & 5(99)from this company:
