decoding WMV?

hey everyone. is there *any* way to decode a wmv file in os x? i don't care what format, as long as it's something that can be played in quicktime and/or encoded into mpeg for vcd.

the closest i've come so far was in attempt to encode it to divx using the preset in ffmpegx. it actually made an attempt to encode, but the final video was all stretched and excessively noisy.

has anyone had any experience attempting to convert wmv to vcd in os x? windows media codecs are horribly frusterating on the mac platform.

I haven't been able to find anything either... there are a couple programs that can decode/play windows media audio (hyperion, MPlayer), but the only program i know of that will even play wmv is windows media player.
